I'm lucky, these are "cheap" and work great for me; I eat a lot of dairy!
I usually eat between one and three with my first bites of dairy, occasionally I've made a mistake and taken after, never have had a problem, knock on wood -

funny thing, I live on a dairy farm, and I can drink our raw milk just fine. I need lactaid to eat our aged cheeses and pasteurized milk. I have not tried raw milk ice cream, and our yogurt is fine for me, all yogurt is fine for me ...

I'm delighted I can buy this through Amazon, hard to get locally ...

It's a good Before product. After is too late.

This is great if you remember to take it before you eat dairy. PhaZyme is better for after you realized you forgot to take the pill before. It's just that simple.

Works, but must take 3-6 pills at a time

I discovered I was lactose intolerant about a year ago. Since then, I've tried most of the fast-acting lactase pills on the market. Lactaid Original Strength does work, but you have to use 3-6 (sometimes more) pills at a time. The reason is that each pill only contains 3000 mg lactase. This differs from something like Equate lactase pills, which each contain 9000 mg lactase. I used to order one box per month of these Lactaid pills using the Subscribe-and-Save feature, thinking I was getting a good deal. I soon realized that I was knocking these pills down like crazy just to get the job done, and having to order more after a few weeks.

If you are lactose intolerant and require lactase supplementation before consuming anything with dairy, then I would suggest a product that offers 9000 mg or more lactase per pill. This will keep you from having to swallow multiple pills every time you want milk, cheese, or ice cream. It'll also be cheaper in the long run to buy the stronger pills. (Just check the online price of the Equate pills on the Walmart website and you'll see what I mean.)
