Made Life Worth Living Again

Had a Sigmoid Colectomy July 19, 2011. For two months, I've gone through misery ranging from moderate to severe cramping, gas, and shedding mucosa, which became severe with some bleeding and really scared me into wondering if I would ever be normal again.

One physician thought it was due to temporary lactose intolerance. My surgeon thought it was colitis caused by the antibiotic they used prior to and during surgery, which led me to consider taking probiotics in pill form.

I took one Ultimate Flora Senior capsule on Wednesday, Sept 14 and symptoms dropped to the level of a minor annoyance that day. After the second capsule the next day, all symptoms disappeared and I've regained control of my life and am no longer afraid of food.

Wow! Basically, instant fix. I wish the medical establishment had suggested this in the beginning. It would have prevented two months of misery and pain.

As one who suffers from gastro intestional disorders, it was suggested that I try this product. It has helped contol the more embrrasing aspects of life.

Sickening!

I've taken quality probiotics for about 12 years. I decided to take Brenda Warson's formula based on reviews. I've taken her fiber products for many years, too. After the first capsule I began to feel ill but didn't make the association. The next day I took a 2nd one and immediately began to feel dizzy, nauseated and a headache built to such proportions that I had to have ice packs all over my head for 5 days, getting out of bed only to throw up and use the bathroom. I would have gone to the hospital except I was too sick and nearly delirious to make the call.

I had just undergone my annual blood tests with perfect results. Once i was able to get out of bed i did go to TWO gastroenterologists and a neurologist and they could find no other explanation for my sudden illness. I did nothing else different from my normal routine. I've taken probiotics of greater strength in the past. This illness - the sickest I've been ever- was absolutely the result of these probiotics. I don't know if the batch I got was contaminated or what because obviously other people take them without becoming I'll. But 2 months later I'm just getting back to normal.

My sense is that Brenda Watson products use a one/size-fits-all, aggressive marketing, high volume approach and their production may not be as carefully monitored for quality standards as other labs are. I do have IBS-C like millions of other people who may consider taking this product, so my stomach is more sensitive however I have taken other strong probiotics for years, as I said.

Obviously, I don't recommend this product and do caution anyone considering it. Discuss with your doctor which probiotic is right for you. Everyone is different. And so is every supplement manufacturer.
